Our Aims And Objectives

We (the nursery) will ensure every child is given the best possible care to the highest standards, following our policies and procedures. The staff ethos is to care for every child as if they are their own. We feel it is important that children have lots of fun filled and memorable experiences, also for the parents too. We want parents to feel confident leaving their children, and to feel that our staff are approachable and feel confident asking questions and voicing any concerns. We want parents to feel relaxed and comfortable leaving their child with us. Every Child matters to us here at Sweet Peas Nursery.
We aim to provide the highest standards of equality and an exceptional quality of care, by treating every child as an individual and ensuring we look after each child to the exceptional standard that we would want our own children looked after.
To provide a child friendly environment where children are able to feel safe and secure, by ensuring risk assessments are conducted thoroughly to minimise risk.
We provide a stimulating environment where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace, by providing resources that are stage appropriate and fulfil each child’s potential and individual needs.
To ensure we continually monitor the quality of care our staff have continued support and training. This is achieved by performance reviews, appraisals, and official training. We also continually monitor the progress of children’s development by doing spot checks on observations.
We aim to contribute to the local community, by allowing student placements, and links to the local schools.
To be guided by parent feedback, to enable us to make provisions to take into consideration parent suggestions.

Our task, regarding creativity, is to help children climb their own mountains, as high as possible. No one can do more. Loris Malaguzzi

At Sweet Peas Nursery the main language is English, however, we aim to use the child’s first language wherever possible. We will not discriminate against any staff member, child, parent or visitor who speaks any other language, and will aim to find alternative methods of communication and inclusion.
Incidental Welsh is used throughout the setting, and members of staff are encouraged to incorporate basic Welsh into their day-to-day routine, planning, during activities, singing, circle time etc.
We hope to introduce fluent Welsh speaking members of staff at the nursery to spend some part of the day with the children emphasising the Welsh Language.
Around the nursery there is work displayed on walls communicated in both English and Welsh. This allows and encourages staff, visitors and parents to see and use the Welsh language.

The ALNCO provides information and support to staff to help the smooth running of the child’s day to day life in nursery.
Our managers have lots of experience of children with additional needs. Mainly Autism, Speech and Language difficulties, and medical conditions. With 34 years of combined experience in childcare settings, we have overseen a number of additional needs and multicultural diversities.
Our service is also able to cater for a wide variety of dietary needs. All food, drinks and resources that children with dietary requirements are in contact with will be checked for unsuitable ingredients before being given to the child.
